Destination L.A. : Universal Studio Hollywood. Part 1, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Day 3 Travel Blog

Where do I even begin to tell you my day at Universal Studio Hollywood? If you are a super film geek, obsessed with TV and movies and also love a good theme park and thrilling movie-themed rides, you gotta visit Universal Studio.
Now I will not be covering all the tips and tricks or hacks on how you can have the best time at Universal Studios in this blog post as I'm sure there are already plenty of information, articles, and videos you can find that is far more useful. However I do want to share some of mine opinions and experience, I hope you will enjoy my take on Universal Studio Hollywood!

Location: The famous Universal Studio entrance

the LA Metro red line route
For you first time visitor here's a little tip for you if you are staying in the Hollywood area and planning to go to Universal Studio via public transportation. It's super quick and easy and you don't even need to spend money on Uber. Just take the metro red line to "Universal City" then catch the Universal Studio shuttle that takes you right to Universal Studio.

Universal Studio Shuttle

The Universal Studio shuttle is free and can also take you back to the Universal City metro station when our day at the park is done. For more info on how to catch the shuttle or if you are driving and need to find a parking lot near the park, you can visit the Universal Studio Website.

It was my second time to Universal Studio Hollywood. The first time I visited I didn't really have time to go on all the rides and attractions because there were SO MANY PEOPLE. It was July and I literally had to wait for at least an hour to go on the Revenge of the Mummy ride. I will say this if you want to save time and hate waiting in line for hours just to go on the popular rides, my first tip for you is to get up early and be at the park at their earliest opening hour. Usually, Universal Studio opens at 10 AM but it can also changes due to seasons so it's always best to check the day before you visit. Another thing I find super useful is to download the Universal Studio app. It allows you to see what time the park open and close and it also shows you the map of the whole theme park and how long each ride's waiting time will be.

The Front of Line Pass
The Front of Line Pass is another great way to skip all the people waiting in the line and you can really take your time to go through the park thoroughly. I did purchase the Front of Line Pass and I definitely enjoyed my second time visiting the park. Now the Front of Line Pass is a little bit expensive, but if you ask me, it is totally worth it. You don't have to rush, you can take your time enjoying all the fun and interesting shops and restaurants in the park and you can literally skip to the very front of the line at each ride and attractions.

You can purchase the Front of Line Pass on the Universal Studio Website. The pass is only valid on the date you choose to visit the park and the price varies from around 179USD to 254USD depending on which day and which month you visit.

  • The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Not gonna try and act all chill and cool about it because I FINALLY GOT TO VISIT THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER! I'm sure for all you Potterheads out there can understand my excitement. It was truly amazing to see the Harry Potter world comes to life. Two of the main rides at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey" and "The Flight of the Hippogriff." The former one is a 3D experience where it takes you on an adventure like in the HP movies, and the latter is basically a roller coaster ride. Both of them are so fun and exciting.

Asides from the rides at the HP world. I was more interested in seeing how they bring the Hogwarts castle, Hogsmeade and Three Broomsticks to life. Walking in Hogsmeade and seeing all those fun and exquisite stores were definitely my favorite experience of it all. I was in love with the way they design the castles and all the shops. Every store has so much detail put into it that if you are truly a Harry Potter book fan, you can literally spend a whole day just in the HP world looking at those intricate details. You'd really believe that you are in the Harry Potter universe. Well... in a way, you are.

At Honeyduke
Definitely check out Honeydukes where you can buy chocolate frogs, Bertie Botts all flavor beans and more. The colorful store design alone is a feast for the eyes.

  • Three Broomstick Restaurant at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

The food we ordered
We dined at The Three Broomstick Restaurant where they serve many traditional English dishes such as fish n chips, if you are vegan or vegetarian, they also have salads. I also try out the famous butterbeer. Overall the food there was great and I love the butterbeer so I would definitely recommend you guys to eat at the Three Broomstick.

I will link the Three Broomstick menu right here for you guys to check out.

Another reason I would recommend getting the Front of Line Pass is that you really don't have to rush the entire day. Universal Studio has so many rides, shops, souvenir stores to see. It's nearly impossible to see all of it in a day. But with the Front of Line Pass, it is possible. After I have been on all the rides I still have plenty of time to go back to my favorite attractions in the park to look at everything and enjoy the view of the park.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is so worth visiting. If you are a fan of the movies, books or both. You would without a doubt want to spend the entire day here. There are so much more to the attraction far beyond what I can put in this blog post. All I can say is that you've got to experience the magic yourself! Please look forward to my part two blog post where I will be covering other attractions in Universal Studio!
