Viva La Dolce Vita

"Viva La Dolce Vita."

I'd much rather be here, with the sweet silence.
A state of complete serenity.
With my own steady heartbeat and thoughts.
Nil disturbance, everything I desire already lies within me.

Questa è la dolce vita.
No sudden outburst of redundant emotions, volatile temper.
A mind free of irrelevant opinions, vehemence, and insecurity.
Unlimited and unscrutinized.

To live my life both under the sun and into the night.
Dance through the rain, drink up the bittersweetness of life.
Having my own will yet going with the flow.
Embrace the warmth of the day, welcome the dusky evenings.
Touched by the glorious birth of mother earth.
Graciously accept that all thing must come to end.

Beware the Autumn People

Autumn has long been a season that fascinates me.
The chilly morning and sound of crispy dry leaves under our feet.
Wind tastes of pumpkin and hay dances around our locks.
This is the time of year when everything starts to die and wilt,
Yet Autumn brings some other-worldly being back to life.
When the season changes and the world enters a state of stillness.
Something strange is brewing in the September air.

These creatures are tired of the dreary summer days.
Overwhelming heat and scorching sun drained the magic out of us all.
For now, Autumn is here to linger, here to stay for a while.
From old, dusty hotels to the black cat lurking at the backstreet of a haunted bar.
The mystery women in dark makeup and long raven capes.
The pumpkins with a malevolent smirk on every house porch.
Secret covens gather at dusk to celebrate the harvest season.
Bats hovering under the crescent moon.
Ghosts and spirits roam the streets.

Run and hide, petty summer child!
For you are trespassing the territory of the Autumn people.
We are the wise storytellers,
the enchanting witches riding on broomsticks,
the sages, and hermits,

Should you ever unknowing step foot into our world,
Beware the Autumn people.

“October Country . . . that country where it is always turning late in the year. That country where the hills are fog and the rivers are mist; where noons go quickly, dusks and twilights linger, and mid-nights stay. That country composed in the main of cellars, sub-cellars, coal-bins, closets, attics, and pantries faced away from the sun. That country whose people are autumn people, thinking only autumn thoughts. Whose people passing at night on the empty walks sound like rain. . . .”
