Montmartre, Paris

Montmartre is an idyllic little escape on a mid-autumn afternoon,
young backpackers and families congregate here at the Place du Tertre,
similar to that of an international convention of wandering poet.
We speak in different tongues but the exchange of warm welcoming looks surpasses language barriers.

Perhaps we are all in search of a glass of fine wine and overall gastronomic experience.
Making efforts to find that piece of painting to bring back home and hang it up on the bedroom wall.
Forever looking for the next escapade.

I, however, am on a different quest.

I'm hearing stories of Dali and Modigliani at La Maison Rose.
Wondering what biblical tales lie buried inside the walls of Sacré-Cœur?
Observing passerby and every little human idiosyncrasy.

I sense a changing atmosphere around me;
Change comes with the autumn wind, bearing the strength of Diana.
As many artists here at Montmartre would tell you, the inner critic is the loudest right before the breakthrough.

If it is true, then I think I'm close.
