Raising Environmental Consciousness: WaitMarinaVintage

Darlings, I have decided to open my brand new sustainable vintage store (Instagram @WaitMarinaVintage) where I would resell some of my second hand and used clothing amongst other authentic curated vintage clothing items. Feel free to take a look at my personal closet, all links will be at the end of this post!

In this day and age, we are quite literally destroying our planet with mass consumption of commercialism, plastic waste, deforestation, and what I would like to shed on light on today: mass production of fast fashion. Being a long time fast fashion consumer, I regret so much to admit I have purchased from all global fast-fashion brands you could name for a long time. I have had the realization for quite a while that we as human beings need to be more conscious and careful of what we are contributing to the one beautiful planet we are lucky enough to reside in. Supporting fast fashion brands that make their fortune from the rapid production of clothing that contributes to global pollution amongst other environmental disaster is just as bad littering in the ocean.

We are all educated intelligent people with brains, to blindly give in to attractive fashion commercials that encourage one to spend money on a piece of garment that its production process includes ocean pollution and slave labor, to say the least, and be indifferent towards the facts is the most disheartening thing of all. We have blindly supported them long enough.

One can argue that we are only one man, we cannot change the system and go against these conglomerates and triumph in the end. But we are capable of changing our habits as consumers and come together. It is not too late but we don't have much time either.

I am by no means patronizing anyone and saying that I am now a saint. I have simply decided to make an effort to minimize unnecessary, spur-of-the-moment purchases from all these global fast fashion brands. Reuse what you have and purchase from a second-hand or used clothing store. Before agreeing to a fashion sponsorship or free PR packages, think twice.

Finally, I would simply like to point out and ask this question: do you like traveling the world? Living life, going on adventurous expeditions, and seeing mother nature in all its glorious, blooming self? Then I couldn't possibly assume you would like to see planet earth dying in agony within the next decades.

Be the force of a better change we all want to see in this world.
